MINISTRIES

Ministering to and training children is a large part of what we do at Temple Baptist Church. We understand that the children of today will be the church leaders of tomorrow. We attempt to make church not only educational, but also, fun and exciting. Our desire is that the children will look forward to coming to church.

The youth group at Temple Baptist Church is an exciting and vibrant ministry that seeks to train our young people in the ways of God while having fun doing it! The teens come together for weekly meetings for Sunday School at 10:00 A.M., Sunday night meetings at 6:00 P.M., and Wednesday night youth group at 7:00 P.M. These middle and high schoolers are also offered monthly activities as well as an annual Youth Camp at Temple’s Promise Land Camp in Bedford, VA. Our youth pastor, Pete Sudlow, always has something going on that will excite, involve, and encourage the teens as they seek to grow in the grace of God.

We understand that music is an extremely important part of worship and our walk with God. So much so, that the Bible designates one whole book for the purpose of music. In the music ministry of Temple, we take this responsibility very seriously. We attempt to use meaningful, relevant, and theologically sound music that will encourage, uplift and edify our church, and glorify our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Adult Choir sings each week in the Sunday morning service and practices at 7:00 p.m. each Wednesday. The choir presents three special programs each year at Christmas, Easter, and early fall.  Marty Sweat directs the adult choir.

Temple Baptist Church has an active instrumental group. Their mission is to glorify God through instrumental music, support congregational singing, and promote individual improvement through practice, solos, and large and small ensemble performances. Mary Crowder directs the instrumental ensemble.

At Temple Baptist Church our highest priority is fulfilling the great commission of Christ as found in Matthew 28:19-20.

A major way we accomplish this is through our missions program. Currently, we support over sixty missionaries and projects throughout the world. We often gratefully say, “The sun never sets on the outreach ministry of Temple Baptist Church.” This is possible because of these many missionaries with whom we have partnered in spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.

The love and support for missions of the people of Temple Baptist Church has allowed our missions giving to grow to roughly twenty percent of our total annual budget. To which we say, “To God be the glory!”

We support our missions program through “Faith Promise” giving. Please click HERE to find out more about this amazing ministry.

There are many ways in which to get involved at Temple Baptist Church. The opportunities are nearly as vast as the interest and talents of those who call this place home.

There is always a need for folks to serve in our various children’s ministries. In addition, Temple Teens and the young adult ministry are active groups who need volunteers.

There are needs for Sunday School teachers, all levels of musicians and singers, those gifted with maintenance and construction skills, food preparation and service abilities, as well as those who can visit, write notes of encouragement, and a wide range of other opportunities.

If God has gifted you in a certain area, there is a place for you at Temple. Contact us HERE to find a place to serve!
